SportAccord, struggling to remain relevant within the Olympic Movement, has suffered a further setback with the news that a key member of the organisation has left following another year when its flagship international convention will not take place, the Zeus Files can exclusively reveal.

It is the latest blow to an event that used to be the most important annual date on the Olympic calendar but has now slipped into insignificance having taken place only once in the last six years due to a combination of the COVID epidemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

SportAccord is facing an uncertain financial future after this year’s planned event in Istanbul last month was cancelled only a few weeks after being announced. A meeting of the Executive Committee is due to be held in Lausanne later this month where some big financial decisions are likely to be needed to be taken.
